Kick off meeting in Berlin

The very first partners’ meeting took place in Berlin on December 17-18, 2018.

“Four partners from four EU member states took part in this important meeting. Many details of execution and coordination of this multinational project were smoothened out and put together,” says Laura Grineviciute, the project manager.

The first day of the kick-off meeting was dedicated to the presentations and practice sharing on innovative teaching&learning methods in the fields of entrepreneurship, ICT and project management. The overview and administrative management of the project concluded the first day of the meeting.

The second day was oriented to the activity descriptions of all work packages with the emphasis on outcome for the project – pedagogical strategy development that should be prepared in May next year.

On 5^th of April members of Entrepreneurial Skills for Woman in a Digital World – an Erasmus+ funded project – took part in an international conference Woman.Work.Lifestyles organized by the University of Applied Labour Studies in Schwerin, Germany.

The key aim of the conference was to engage in dialogue on employment opportunities and achievements of and for women. This year’s expert conference focussed on women in the workforce in the context of social, economic and technological change. Conference participants and key presenters discussed how to discover, tap and maximize women’s employment potential, how to support women in making the best of their employment opportunities.

Bringing together partners from Lithuania, Greece, Germany and Slovenia, the second partners’ meeting of Entrepreneurial Skills for Women in a Digital World, an Erasmus-funded project, took place in Athens, Greece on July 16-17. The project’s progress as well as its key activity – a training programme for women and educators of non-formal adult education institutions with the focus on entrepreneurial, project management and digital skills – was discussed in detail at the meeting.

‘Combination of project management, digital literacy, entrepreneurship is what makes this learning strategy innovative and unique,” says Inga Zemaitiene, the project manager from Lithuania. ‘Rather than teaching the three subjects separately, the training integrates them into a single coherent course focusing on communication, creativity, critical thinking and digital skills without which professional success is next to unthinkable,” she added.

The programme will be developed in five languages and will be tested in adult non-formal education institutions at the beginning of the next year.

The two year project focuses on improving women skills in light of unfolding changes in the labour market of the digital age.

The third partner meeting of Erasmus+ funded project Entrepreneurial Skills for Women in a Digital World took place in Vilnius, Lithuania on February 11-12 of this year. Representatives from four partner organizations from Lithuania, Slovenia, Germany and Greece took part in this meeting.

Two days event was dedicated to present an overview of the project and to discuss planned further activities and tasks.

This was an important meeting because the most important deliverable was shared with the partners – developed educational programme Making Ideas Happen. This programme differs from predominant courses as it is focused on the implementation of entrepreneurial learning by linking three relevant competence areas together: digital skills, entrepreneurial thinking and project management competences. Moreover, the programme offers 25 f2f sessions, which enhances not only skills required for current labour market but also builds women self-confidence, provides them an opportunity to discuss problems with others, exchange viewpoints and enjoy themselves in dealing with new knowledge.

At the moment each country is preparing for the piloting training of newly created programme. It is being translated and adapted into national languages, online platform for training materials is being created and participants for the training is being selected.

Piloting training will be launched in March and April this year. During the training 40 educators from non-formal educational organizations and 200 women (with lower opportunities) will have an opportunity to test and evaluate the programme.

Making Ideas Happen, a f2f programme, focused on helping women combine IT with entrepreneurship, has launched a piloting training on February 21st. 12 educators from seven libraries across Lithuania will take part.

In addition to aiding entrepreneurial women with IT skills, the programme also aims to develop project management skills and assist women in an educational pathway to better employment opportunities.

The programme was developed within the international project Entrepreneurial Skills for Women in a Digital World (E4W) and is financed by the European Commission Erasmus+ Programme implemented by partners in Germany, Slovenia, Greece and Lithuania.

The aim of piloting training is to test a newly created programme with the key target groups of the project: adult educators and women.

Initially a f2f piloting training was planned to start on 14th of March. However due to the Covid-19 lockdown face to face training was cancelled and instead educators were invited to join training online via Cisco Webex tool.

14 educators participated the training Making Ideas Happen. Most of them were free-lancers collaborating with various adult learning organisations in Greece.

Train-the-Trainer “From the idea to the project” successfully completed as online format

The pilot training “From the Idea to a Project” was actually planned to be carried out as a face-to-face event. Then everything changed due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the training was conducted in online format from 30 April to 19 May.

Niloufar Behradi-Ohnacker, trainer of the training, describes her impression of the training and the materials as this: “Entre4Woman is a great concept! It was an honour for me to give selected lecturers an insight into the three modules. We are the first in Germany to be able to get an impression of the particularly well developed teaching materials. I particularly enjoyed the implementation of the tools. I can’t wait to get started right away and help women to transform their ideas into well-conceived and organised projects.

A total of nine trainers from the adult education sector took part in the training and learned, among other things, how to develop and implement ideas using digital tools. Afterwards, the participants themselves will impart this knowledge to disadvantaged women in the context of their adult education activities.

The learning concept as well as the materials will then be available free of charge to interested institutions and trainers in adult education.

Successfully conducted entrepreneurship for women in a digital world trainings

As one of the project partners in the Entrepreneurship For Women programme, Simbioza organized a series of training for disadvantaged women with the aim of upskilling.

Recently, as our society progresses towards increased digitalization, especially disadvantaged women have suffered on the job market. Women overall are still far from achieving economic independence, are less likely to be employed, are employed in lower-paid positions, and tend to take more breaks from their careers. In order to overcome these issues and expand the opportunities for women on the job market, Simbioza and its project partners have designed a curriculum that upskills women especially in the field of entrepreneurship and digitalization. Skills from these two fields are one of the most sought after by employers nowadays.

The training is conceptualized as a project-based learning course and combines three different fields – project management, digital skills and entrepreneurial skills. The program duration is 25 hours and consists of three interconnected modules. Each of the modules focuses in some way on each respective field and includes learning objectives which range from the basics of project management, planning a project, finding stakeholders and evaluating ideas, to more technical skills such as the use of different methods and techniques of planning and executing projects. Each of the sessions in every module also includes an ICT component, which encourages constant learning and acquirement of ICT skills throughout the course of the training.

Just in Slovenia, 30 women attended the course this summer. All educators are experienced professionals who work in adult education, and their training will create a multiplier effect, where they will be able to transfer their newfound knowledge and specific skills to their work environment. Within each of the module’s components’, the educators focused mostly on the skills and knowledge that the women can then utilize in their work environment and further upgrade.

Both educators and participants received a certificate that shows their progress. The participants, in order to mark their progress more in detail, received open badges, awarded through evaluation in Moodle. This way, they are free to share their newfound skills on the web, their social media sites, LinkedIn, etc., further aiding their future success.

Teaching and learning material “Making Ideas Happen” presented to educational institutions

On November 24, about 20 educational institutions*, including adult education centers, libraries, and other interested parties from all over Germany, met at a digital event and got to know our project “Entrepreneurship for Women in a Digital World”. During the meeting, the disadvantaged situation of women on the European labor market, especially during the current Corona pandemic, was brought into focus. The need for entrepreneurial and digital skills for the expanding labour market as a basis for our project was also discussed.

The participants then gained insights into the structure of our learning concept, into the teaching and learning material “Making Ideas Happen” and showed great interest in the practical systematic instructions and the online platform via moodle.

With the presentation of the learning concept and materials, the project will officially end on 30.11.2020. Afterwards, the curriculum and the training manual will be available under an OER license for free download and personal use.
